I was excited to get Macaron Cafe’s French onion soup —— you know, being that they’re a pretty legit French cafe. I assumed the soup would be outstanding. Hell, was I wrong.
The French onion soup was $5.50. I also got a double-shot espresso, which I can’t remember the price of. The point of this entry is that the soup was a total FAIL. Just to drop the fyi, French onion soup is made of beef stock, wonderfully caramelized onions, and is usually topped with a thick, toasted slice of baguette (or croutons) which is then topped with delightfully melty gruyere cheese. The gruyere is my most favorite part in the hot soup, as it gets really stringy and stretchy.
I expected all that from Macaron Cafe. But no. The bread wasn’t crunchy, and worst of all, THERE WAS NO CHEESE. I had to literally scrape the bottom of my cup to find tear droplets of some kind of cheese, which I bet was mozzarella. D-A-M-Fs.

Scooping for cheese…
…Still no cheese…
…Why is there no mf-ing gruyere in my French onion.
Total fail. ☆☆☆☆☆ (0 star ratings. Wait, can I do negatives? —-☆☆☆☆☆).
