~$2 tea and $3.50 pastry at Savory Cafe. Love.

It was love at first bite when a young lady behind the counter offered napoleon cake samples. Then she graciously offered more when I expressed enthusiasm. I restrained myself and only took seconds, though. ;-)
I bought their white chocolate pastry that had layers of crisp wafer crumbs, fluffy cake, light creams, and cocoa powder.

A returning visit is anticipated in the future. Likely for their $1.50 french macarons, too!

$5 veggie+tofu pho at Nha Trang One. Comes with tea. Me gusta. :-]
Quite possibly my favorite spot for the most affordable+best value of pho with vegetables.

Side note: the restaurant gets a good mix of stray tourists and locals.

₤19.95 afternoon tea at The Orangery

Pros:

  • restaurant is a stunning, 1700s garden house-turned-dining house
  • polite staff
  • first-come, first-serve; doesn’t accept reservations
  • affordable tea service
    - tea: assaam
    - pastries: dark chocolate tart, cranberry tart, and lemon mousse
    - scones: orange-scented & cranberry, cinnamon
    - finger sandwiches: smoked salmon & cream cheese, egg mayo & cress, turkey & cranberry, cucumber & mint
  • selective dates for an instrumentalist
(harp-playing was so beautiful! can you imagine a clarinet?! ugh, love)
  • details in food presentation

Cons:

  • can lack in table setting cleanliness, had a dirty saucer & dirty table cloth

Veggie Sandwich Ben-Yay's

Veggie sandwich ($7.25) and ben-yay’s (beignets, 3 for $1) at Cheeky Sandwiches. The sandwich was a lot greasier than I would have liked but the pickled veggies were delish. No photo of the ginger tea ($1.75), though I must say that it had the perfect balance of sweetness and a subtle, spicy kick!
